Selections for
Saturday August 14, 2010
.
.

Friends, here are my selections for tomorrrow's races at the Meadowlands in New Jersey. Watch out for scratches and driver changes as this has a direct impact on the system and the five horses that the system generates.
.
Please note that this will most likely be my last post for this racing season as the season is quickly drawing to a close. Friday is the last day, so hopefully I can make it out for a few of the last races on that day. But, no more Saturday racing after tomorrow. Bummer.
.

My top five picks in each race, from best to worse. Recommended betting is to box or key these horses for the triactor bet. You can view some of my previous posts for betting strategies. Just remember, that any one of the top five picks can win the race - as any horse can win any race. And, don't forget: managing money is the key to success at the racing game.

Today was Hambletonian Day at the Meadowlands friends, so that means
lots of stakes races.  I only played races 3 to 15 as the signal was not brought in to my area until about 9:30 AM Pacific Coast Time. I handicapped earlier on races 3 through 12 and you can see my selections below. Once at the track, I handicapped and played the remainder of the races. Altogether, I won seven triactors, and the winning started right in race number 3. My gross earnings for the session was $1063.00. Note that the payoffs were less here on the West Coast  than those paid out at the track in New Jersey.
.
Race 3. A win. Winning combination was: 2-3-7-4. One of my bets was a key: 2/3-7. My earnings for a dollar was about $75.00
.
Race 4. A win.  Winning combination was: 2-3-4-1. The top three horses in my system were: 4-3-2. The first thing I do is to box my top three horses for six dollars and that is how I won this race. I made about $74 dollars here for my one dollar win.
.
Race 5. I did not win this race, but if I had boxed my top five horses for sixty dollars I would have won a nice triactor in the order of $5,000 dollars - or half for one dollar. My horses in my system were: 3-1-9-8-4. See my picks below. The winning combination was: 9-8-4.
.
Race 6. A win.  I won this race and it paid $641.00 for my one dollar. This was kind of a flukey win because the number 1 horse was disqualified. So, the next three horses won the triactor, and so did I. The winning numbers were: 9/3-2.  That combination is part of my standard fourteen dollar bet. I would have won this race by betting my 24 dollar system or boxing the first four horses in my system for 24 dollars as well.
.
Race 12. A win. The winning combination was 1-3-2. I boxed the first three horses in my system for six dollars and that is what won the race. My five horses in order were: 1-2-3-4-6. This triactor paid me $ 86.00 for one dollar.
.
Race 13. A win. I boxed my top three horses 4-6-7 and won $60.00 for my one dollar bet.
.
Race 14. A win. The winning combination was 3-8-1 and it paid $33.45 for one dollar. My picks were: 8-1-3-2-4. The program picked 8-3-1-7.
.
Race 15. A win. My picks were: 4-10-2-6-7. 10-4-2 won the race and I had this combination two times, so my payout was the whole $93.20.

.

Friends, here are my selections for today's racing at the Meadowlands in New Jersey on Saturday, August 7, 2010 -  races three through 12. Please note that I am publishing these selections on Friday evening August 6 at approximately 23:00hrs Pacific Coast Time, so be aware that the system might have to be adjusted as a function of scratches and driver changes. As you are most likely aware by now my system is just a compilation of my top five picks in any race. Also, any of my horses can win in my system, but the first two or three horses are more favoured than the rest. I employ different betting strategies at different times, and my decisions are a pure judgement call.

Race 3: Key or box bets based on horses 2-7-1-9-3.

Race 4: Key or box bets based on horses 4-3-2-5-6.

Race 10: Key or box bets based on horses: 2-1-5-10-4.
.
.
Race 11: Key or box bets based on horses: 2-7-1-4-3.

Race 12: Key or box bets based on horses: 1-2-3-4-6 ( actually 5 or 6, you pick 'em because I cannot make up my mind )

Summary
.

Well, there you have it friends, just some betting strategies for you based on my system. Remember, my system is by no means fool proof and ANY HORSE can win any race so keep that in mind when you are betting. You should learn how to limit your bets to your risk tolerance and your ability to lose money. You can lose a great deal of money in horse racing very quickly if you do not manage your money properly and managing money is one of the tricks to the horse racing game.

Friends, here are my selections for today's racing at the Meadowlands in New Jersey on Saturday, July 31, 2010 - the first Ten races. Please note that I am publishing these selections on Friday evening July 30 at approximately 22:00 Pacific Coast Time, so be aware that the system might have to be adjusted as a function of scratches and driver changes. As you are most likely aware by now my system is just a compilation of my top five picks in any race. .
.
Race 1: Key or box bets based on horses 3-5-2-4-1. Best is 3-2-4.

.
Race 2: Key or box bets based on horses 4-2-5-1-3. Best is 4-5-3.

.
Race 3: Key or box bets based on horses: 1-8-7-4-5. Best is 1-8-5. Number 6 is a threat horse.

.
Race 4: Key or box bets based on horses: 1-5-7-6-2. Best is 1-5-6.
.
Race 5: Key or box bets based on horses: 2-7-5-1-3. Best is 2-7-3.
.
Race 6: Key or box bets based on horses: 4-3-5-1-8. Best is 3-5-1. Threat horse is number 2.
.
Race 7: Key or box bets based on horses: 7-9-8-2-4. Best is 7-2-4. Number 10 is a threat horse .
.
Race 8: Key or box bets based on horses: 1-6-2-7-3. Best is 1-7-3. Note that that my triactor system does not pick the favourite on the program, namely horse number 8. Consider this kind of situation a risk to the system. You can leave horse number 8 out or put him with the top picks in the system. Your choice.
.
Race 9: Key or box bets based on horses: 10-7-5-9-1. Best is 5-9-1. Threat horse is number 6.
.
Race 10: Key or box bets based on horses: 3-4-5-1-2. This is a short field - only six numbers to bet.

Racing Update:
.
.
I had a good day today friends and I walked out with over $800.00 ( eight hundred dollars ) in my pocket. I won altogether three (3) triactors. I won races 4 ( $31.75 ), race 6 ( $219.20 ), and race 7 ( $745.45 ) All one dollar triactors. NB. the payouts for Canadians were slightly less than in New Jersey. And, please note that with a little bit of luck I could have won races 1 and 2 as well. I have been employing a strategy lately which involves boxing the three fastest horses in the race. That is to say, the three fastest horses of my top five picks. In race number one they were horses 3, 5, and 7. I missed that triactor. Also, one of my traditional system bets costs 24 dollars. So, using my 24 dollar method I would have won race 2 as well. 10, 4, and 9 were the winning horses in that race. For example, one bet in my system and in that particular race would have been: Key: 10/4-9-1. Note that these horses form part of my five picks in my system. See my selections below for this race.

Friends, here are my selections for racing at the Meadowlands in New Jersey on Saturday July 3, 2010 - the first Ten races. Please note that I am publishing these selections on Sunday morning July 4. Sorry, I didn't get to the track early enough to get a form and handicap the races and then publish my picks for you. I thought you might be interested nevertheless, in the results of my picks for yesterday. After all was said and done my batting average for the day was 500. So, that means of course that I made money for yesterday's racing. But, that is not always the case, however, as you may appreciate. Sometimes, for example, I will win, say, three triactors and still not come out a winner. And, that is mainly owing to the low payoffs. But, that was not the case yesterday and I ended up with a profit of just under 300 dollars and of course I received the full benefit of ten action packed harness races as well. So, I suppose that you could say that it is good to have a hobby that actually pays you for enjoying yourself once in a while. Below are my picks of the ten races and some explanation for you as well.

.
.
Race 1: Key or box bets based on horses 9-1-6-8-10. Note that horse number 9 was scratched in this race. That changed my system bets and my new picks were: 6-1-8-5-3. The winning horses were: 8-1-2-5. Horse number 2 was an oddball ( 15-1 on the program ) and it screwed up my system as you can see.
.
Race 2: A Win. Key or box bets based on horses 3-1A-4-1-5-2. The winning horses were: 3-4-1-5. I boxed my first three horses and won this race. The winning combination is also picked on the program.
.
Race 3: A Win. Key or box bets based on horses: 5-4-2-1-3. The winning horses were in exact order: 1-5-4. I was actually afraid of this race and it was only a six horse field. My normal betting strategies would not have produced a win in this race if I had to pick the three horses that the track program was selecting. So, I simply bet my system as it is stated. I won the race as one of my standard bets ( in this example ) was 1/5-4, a key bet. This was a really good payoff and was over 400 hundred dollars for a two dollar bet. The winning horse was 5-1 on the program and coming off a qualifier. Good thing the horse was part of the system.
.
Race 4: Key or box bets based on horses: 4-9-6-10-2. This was an awkward race in my view and the results proved my suspicions correct. The winning horses were: 5-2-8-7.
.
Race 5: A Win. Key or box bets based on horses: 8-3-10-7-4. The winning horses were: 10-7-8-9.
.
Race 6: Key or box bets based on horses: 2-9-4-8-6. The results were: 2-1-4-6. Horse number 1 ( Mucho Sleazy ) was 10-1 on the program.
.
Race 7: Key or box bets based on horses: 9-2-8-5-7. Horse number 2 ( Urgent Action ) was scratched. My new five picks were: 5-9-8-7-4. The results were: 6-4-7-1 .
.
Race 8: A Win. Key or box bets based on horses: 6-3-4-8-1. The winning horses were: 6-3-4. I won this race two times..
.
Race 9: Key or box bets based on horses: 7-5-8-2-4. The winning horses were: 4-6-8-2.
.
Race 10: A Win. Key or box bets based on horses: 6-8-1-7-5. The winning horses were: 6-8-7-5. The program selections were: 7-8-6.
.

THE SELECTIONS FOR TODAY
.
.

.

Friends, here are my selections for today's racing at the Meadowlands in New Jersey on Saturday May 15, 2010. Please note that I am publishing these selections on Friday night May 14, so be aware that the system might have to be adjusted as a function of scratches and driver changes. As you are most likely aware by now my system is just a compilation of my top five picks in any race. ( four horses in a shorter field ) Also, any horse can win in my system, but the first two or three horses are more favoured than the rest.

.
.
Race 1: Key or box bets based on horses 3-4-1-5-2. Horse number 7 " International Style " is coming off a qualifier and appears to be a legitimate threat to the system. You might consider additional key bets using the first three horses.
.
Race 2: Key or box bets based on horses 2-1-5-6-3.
.
Race 3: Key or box bets based on horses: 5-9-7-3-2. The number 8 horse " Rockin Ray " is coming off a qualifier and is technically a threat to the system, although he does not appear to be that much of threat based on his poor speeds .
.
Race 4: Key or box bets based on horses: 2-4-9-5-6.
.
Race 5: Key or box bets based on horses: 7-6-1-4-2. There is an " outside " threat to the system here and that is horse number 9 " Sakic Seelster ". He has been running in Woodbine mostly and he broke his last time out at the Meadowlands. He looks pretty consistent at Woodbine and the higher priced trotters there are pretty consistent. His times are not that bad considering he is a trotter. He is not technically a threat based on my traditional threat criteria, but he has caught my attention for some reason. He might be worth a couple of extra bucks on key bets with the top three horses.
.
Race 6: Key or box bets based on horses: 2-3-1-4-7.
.
Race 7: Key or box bets based on horses: 2-3-4-8-7. There is a threat horse here, namely horse number 5 " LisaAgain ". The horse's racing effort in the last line of racing makes the horse a threat by my standards. The horse is picked on the program, but my system has not picked the horse as one of the top five. But, some extra key bets with the top three horses might be in order here .
.
Race 8: Key or box bets based on horses: 3-6-4-8-5.
.
Race 9: Key or box bets based on horses: 7-9-2-5-8. There is a threat horse here, namely horse number 4 " Double Jack ". The horse is coming off a qualifier and is also picked on the program. He is not part of my top five picks, however.
.
Race 10: Key or box bets based on horses: 6-2-7-4-9. There are two threat horses here and they are both coming off qualifiers. They are horse number 1 " Zarachino " and horse number 5 " Rock Image ". The 5 horse is picked on the program. I find these to be very difficult races when you have two or more threats to the system; they are trouble makers. You can use one of them or both or just ignore them. It is totally a judgement call.

THE SELECTIONS FOR TODAY

Friends, here are my selections for today's racing at the Meadowlands in New Jersey on Saturday May 8, 2010. Please note that I am publishing these selections on Friday night May 7, so please be aware that the system might have to be adjusted as a function of scratches and driver changes. As you are most likely aware by now my system is just a compilation of my top five picks in any race. ( four horses in a shorter field ) Also, any horse can win in my system, but the first two or three horses are more favoured than the rest.

.
.
Race 1: Key or box bets based on horses 6-5-4-3-2. Optional one dollar key bet is: 6/4-3-2 ( six dollars. I use this optional bet when I am betting my standard 14 dollars ). So, the total amount bet in the race is 20 dollars.
.
Race 2: Key or box bets based on horses 4-8-1-2-3.
.
Race 3: Key or box bets based on horses: 3-2-4-5. This is a five horse field.
.
Race 4: Key or box bets based on horses: 1-4-2-8-9.
.
Race 5: Key or box bets based on horses: 3-2A-7-4-1A.
.
Race 6: Key or box bets based on horses: 6-8-2-5-7. There is a threat horse in this race, namely Horse number 4. This horse is picked on the program, but is not part of my top five horses. You can simply key the horse to the winner if you want to spend the extra money.
.
Race 7: Key or box bets based on horses: 5-1-7-2-8. There is a threat horse in this race, namely Horse number 3. The horse is coming off a qualifier.
.
Race 8: Key or box bets based on horses: 7-5-1-6-3. There is a threat horse in this race, namely Horse number 2. The horse is coming off a qualifier.
.
Race 9: Key or box bets based on horses: 2-3-4-6-1.
.
Race 10: Key or box bets based on horses: 1-7-2-4. This is a seven horse field.

Some commentary on last night's races
.
.
Friends, I really have to laugh at myself or kick myself in the butt, one or the other. Maybe you have done it yourself. You know what I mean, spending all kinds of time on a race and then not even betting it because something is bothering you about it. Well, it happened to me last night at the Meadowlands and it was in race number 8. Check out my picks for that race in my my last post here:
.
.
.
.
Before I comment on that race however, here are the races that I would have won if I had bet my system, using either the 14 dollar or the 24 dollar method. I should tell you that it was a fairly erratic night and it really fell apart later on. But, there were some gains to be made and they happened before the real breakdown.
.
.
.
.
Race 3. My selections for this race were: 7-4-3-2-9. Using my system and betting the standard 14 dollars would have made you a winner in this race. The bets would look like this:
.
Box: ( 7-4-3 ) ( six dollars )
Key: 2/7-4 ( two dollars )
7/4-2 ( two dollars )
9/7-4 ( two dollars )
7/4-9 ( two dollars )
.
The results for this race were: 2-7-4 and the two dollar triactor paid $133.00. You would of course only receive half of this amount by betting one dollar triactors.
.
Race 6. I did not win this race, but I had the top five horses that could have netted you a win if you had boxed them for sixty dollars. My top five horses in order of preference were: 3-5-7-4-1. Neither my 14 dollar or 24 dollar method would have won this race. The 24 dollar method only boxes the first four horses. But, if you had spent 60 dollars ( one dollar triactor bets ) and boxed these five horses you would have won the triactor. The winning horses were in order: 4-1-3-5. The 2 dollar triactor paid: $207.40. So, for one dollar you would have received half of that prize. Is it worth 60 dollars to you to win just over a hundred dollars? Well, that is not exactly my idea of a good time, spending sixty dollars a race, that is.
.
Race 7. This is a very interesting race which I wanted to win, but did not. I spent a lot of time on it as there was a scratch in the race. My original picks were: 2-4-3-7-6 ( see the link above for my picks yesterday ). Horse number 2 was scratched and this affected the whole system. I came up with five new numbers for my horses in order of preference. They were: 4-3-5-7-9. I thought this was an interesting race, but I did not bet the 24 dollar system. I only bet the 14 dollar variety, with the optional bet of 4/3-9-5 hoping to win the triactor two times. But, I won nothing of course. However, if you are one of the big spending kind of people then you would have won the triactor and even the superfector by boxing my top five horses. The winning combination was: 3-7-5-9. As you can see I picked all of these horses via my system. The two dollar triactor paid: $333.20.
.
Race 8. This is the heart breaker race friends and the reason I decided to do this post today. I did not even bet this race. Why? Because I was afraid of three threats to the system. They are all horses coming off qualifiers and these kinds of horses frighten me to death. You just do not know what they are going to do. Sometimes you can just leave them out because they are meaningless threats, but it seems like when you do leave them out one of them comes in and ruins your system. That is why I did not bet the race; they all looked like honest threats to the system. However, it bears repeating that I have seen this madness before. You fear something that is not real. They system is strong even in the face of all of this adversity. Here are my picks from yesterday's handicapping regarding this race. 1-3-4-5-8. The really sad thing about this race friends is that I would have won it for my standard 14 dollar bet. These would be the bets if I was betting just 14 dollars:
.
Box ( 1-3-4 )
.
Key: 5/1-3, 1/3-5, 8/1-3, and 1/3-8.
.
The winning combination was: 8-3-1 and it paid for two dollars: $698.00.
.
Can you feel my frustration friends? The kicker is that the 8 horse was the favourite on the program, but the horse was not bet as a favourite. The qualifying horses mentioned above were all running for bigger money and this fact must have influenced a lot of people and their betting behaviour. I was certainly affected as you can see. So, what do you do? Stick to your guns or make a judgement call? Live and learn eh?
.
Don't forget to read my disclaimer regarding my efforts here. This can be found in previous posts on this blog.
.
Thanks for checking in and talk to you all later.

THE SELECTIONS FOR TODAY
.
.

.
.

Friends, here are my selections for today's racing at the Meadowlands in New Jersey.

.

I have a few of the races handicapped as I write friends. As you know, I look at eight considerations when I am constucting my system. I simply assign points and then add them up. And, what I end up with is my top five picks ( usually just four horses in a shorter field ) in order of preference. Now, the important thing about my system of course is that all of my horses can win and I bet strategically to reflect this reality. I usually try to limit my triactor betting to fourteen dollars per race, but sometimes it is more practical to bet more so as to cover more combinations. I can bet combinations all the way up to 24 dollars for example. And, if you don't mind spending even more money you can box 5 horses for sixty dollars. Boxing the top four horses would cost 24 dollars for a one dollar bet. At any rate, here are my picks for the first ten races today at the Meadowlands. These picks could change if a horse is scratched or if there is a driver change so keep that in mind.
.
Race 1: Key or box bets based on horses 6-1-5-3-2. Optional one dollar key bet: 6/1-3-4 as a back up bet
.
Race 2: Key or box bets based on horses 4-5-3-8-10. Threat Horse is number 6. How to incorporate a threat horse: bet 6/4-5 and 4/5-6 for a total of four dollars.
.
Race 3: Key or box bets based on horses 6-2-4-1. Threat horse is number 5.
.
Race 4: Key or box bets based on horses 9-2-1-4-8.
.
Race 5: Key or box bets based on horses 3-2-5-10-7. Threat horse is number 6.
.
Race 6: Key or box bets based on horses 4-1-3-8-5.
.
Race 7: Key or box bets based on horses 1-4-2-8-7. Threat horses are 5 and 10. Two threat horses in one race can sometimes mean danger as both horses represent a threat to the system.
.
Race 8: Key or box bets based on horses 7-4-10-1-3.
.
Race 9: Key or box bets based on horses 5-6-9-4-7.
.
Race 10: Key or box bets based on horses 2-7-1-3. Threats to the system are horse 4,5, and 6. Obviously my system is threatened here.
.
.
Betting Strategies:
.
As you know there are many ways to bet a race. But, one of the most important things to keep in mind of course is one's budget. It doesn't pay to get carried away in the racing game. You will usually end up losing anyway, so it is better to budget and limit your exposure. With these thoughts in mind here is a sample of how to bet my system, depending upon your mood and your budget of course.
.
Let's take a look at race number 6 for today. The Meadowlands Racing Program picks: 3-4-7. These are the top three horses according to the experts.
.
Here are my top five horses in order of preference: 4-1-3-8-5. Notice that I do not have horse number 7 in my top three picks. This fact is technically a threat to my system and for an extra fours dollars you can cover this threat if you want to spend the money doing so.
.
My normal bet is a fourteen dollar one. Here is what it would look like:
.
One dollar triactor Box ( 4-1-3 ) equals six dollars;
One dollar Key 8/4-1 and 4/1-8 equals four dollars;
One dollar Key 5/4-1 and 4/1-5 equals four dollars
.
total bets equals 14 dollars for above;
.
Here are some combinations using mostly key bets and spending more money, namely 24 dollars. This is the amount of money that I like to bet when I like a race. It is usually higher quality horses running for bigger money. In race 6 these are the combinations. Remember, these are all one dollar bets.
.
Key: 4/1-3-8,
1/4-3-8,
3/4-1-8
8/4-1
5/4-1
4/1-5
.
total above bets equals 24 dollars
.
Another option is to just box your top four horses for 24 dollars. That means that all combinations are covered based on four horses. Any three of the four horses have to be in the money to win of course. The top four horses in the sixth race are: 4-1-3-8
.
And, finally if you want to cover all of the horses in the system you can box all five of them for sixty dollars. I have never done this personally, but I can certainly see the benefits in doing so. As I stated above, there is a possible outside threat to this race and that is horse number 7.
.
.
Summary
