Friends, here are my selections for today's racing at the Meadowlands in New Jersey on Saturday May 22, 2010 - the first Ten races. Please note that I am publishing these selections on Friday night May 21, so be aware that the system might have to be adjusted as a function of scratches and driver changes. As you are most likely aware by now my system is just a compilation of my top five picks in any race. ( four horses in a shorter field ) Also, any horse can win in my system, but the first two or three horses are more favoured than the rest.

.
Race 1: Key or box bets based on horses 6-4-5-3.
.
Race 2: Key or box bets based on horses 5-1-4-2.
.
Race 3: Key or box bets based on horses: 2-3-1A-7 .
.

.
Race 6: Key or box bets based on horses: 4-5-6-1-3.
.
Race 7: Key or box bets based on horses: 3-9-4-5-6 .
.
Race 8: Key or box bets based on horses: 4-1-5-2-8.

.
Race 10: Key or box bets based on horses: 6-1-5-3. There are two threat horses here. They are horses number 2 and 7.
.
.
.
.
Summary
.
Well, there you have it friends, just some betting strategies for you based on my system. Remember, my system is by no means fool proof and ANY HORSE can win any race so keep that in mind when you are betting. You should learn how to limit your bets to your risk tolerance and your ability to lose money. You can lose a great deal of money in horse racing very quickly if you do not manage your money properly and managing money is one of the tricks to the horse racing game.

THE SELECTIONS FOR TODAY
.
.

.

Friends, here are my selections for today's racing at the Meadowlands in New Jersey on Saturday May 15, 2010. Please note that I am publishing these selections on Friday night May 14, so be aware that the system might have to be adjusted as a function of scratches and driver changes. As you are most likely aware by now my system is just a compilation of my top five picks in any race. ( four horses in a shorter field ) Also, any horse can win in my system, but the first two or three horses are more favoured than the rest.

.
.
Race 1: Key or box bets based on horses 3-4-1-5-2. Horse number 7 " International Style " is coming off a qualifier and appears to be a legitimate threat to the system. You might consider additional key bets using the first three horses.
.
Race 2: Key or box bets based on horses 2-1-5-6-3.
.
Race 3: Key or box bets based on horses: 5-9-7-3-2. The number 8 horse " Rockin Ray " is coming off a qualifier and is technically a threat to the system, although he does not appear to be that much of threat based on his poor speeds .
.
Race 4: Key or box bets based on horses: 2-4-9-5-6.
.
Race 5: Key or box bets based on horses: 7-6-1-4-2. There is an " outside " threat to the system here and that is horse number 9 " Sakic Seelster ". He has been running in Woodbine mostly and he broke his last time out at the Meadowlands. He looks pretty consistent at Woodbine and the higher priced trotters there are pretty consistent. His times are not that bad considering he is a trotter. He is not technically a threat based on my traditional threat criteria, but he has caught my attention for some reason. He might be worth a couple of extra bucks on key bets with the top three horses.
.
Race 6: Key or box bets based on horses: 2-3-1-4-7.
.
Race 7: Key or box bets based on horses: 2-3-4-8-7. There is a threat horse here, namely horse number 5 " LisaAgain ". The horse's racing effort in the last line of racing makes the horse a threat by my standards. The horse is picked on the program, but my system has not picked the horse as one of the top five. But, some extra key bets with the top three horses might be in order here .
.
Race 8: Key or box bets based on horses: 3-6-4-8-5.
.
Race 9: Key or box bets based on horses: 7-9-2-5-8. There is a threat horse here, namely horse number 4 " Double Jack ". The horse is coming off a qualifier and is also picked on the program. He is not part of my top five picks, however.
.
Race 10: Key or box bets based on horses: 6-2-7-4-9. There are two threat horses here and they are both coming off qualifiers. They are horse number 1 " Zarachino " and horse number 5 " Rock Image ". The 5 horse is picked on the program. I find these to be very difficult races when you have two or more threats to the system; they are trouble makers. You can use one of them or both or just ignore them. It is totally a judgement call.

THE SELECTIONS FOR TODAY
.

.

Friends, here are my selections for today's racing at the Meadowlands in New Jersey on Saturday May 8, 2010. Please note that I am publishing these selections on Friday night May 7, so please be aware that the system might have to be adjusted as a function of scratches and driver changes. As you are most likely aware by now my system is just a compilation of my top five picks in any race. ( four horses in a shorter field ) Also, any horse can win in my system, but the first two or three horses are more favoured than the rest.

.
.
Race 1: Key or box bets based on horses 6-5-4-3-2. Optional one dollar key bet is: 6/4-3-2 ( six dollars. I use this optional bet when I am betting my standard 14 dollars ). So, the total amount bet in the race is 20 dollars.
.
Race 2: Key or box bets based on horses 4-8-1-2-3.
.
Race 3: Key or box bets based on horses: 3-2-4-5. This is a five horse field.
.
Race 4: Key or box bets based on horses: 1-4-2-8-9.
.
Race 5: Key or box bets based on horses: 3-2A-7-4-1A.
.
Race 6: Key or box bets based on horses: 6-8-2-5-7. There is a threat horse in this race, namely Horse number 4. This horse is picked on the program, but is not part of my top five horses. You can simply key the horse to the winner if you want to spend the extra money.
.
Race 7: Key or box bets based on horses: 5-1-7-2-8. There is a threat horse in this race, namely Horse number 3. The horse is coming off a qualifier.
.
Race 8: Key or box bets based on horses: 7-5-1-6-3. There is a threat horse in this race, namely Horse number 2. The horse is coming off a qualifier.
.
Race 9: Key or box bets based on horses: 2-3-4-6-1.
.
Race 10: Key or box bets based on horses: 1-7-2-4. This is a seven horse field.

Why didn't I bet that race?

Some commentary on last night's races
.
.
Friends, I really have to laugh at myself or kick myself in the butt, one or the other. Maybe you have done it yourself. You know what I mean, spending all kinds of time on a race and then not even betting it because something is bothering you about it. Well, it happened to me last night at the Meadowlands and it was in race number 8. Check out my picks for that race in my my last post here:
.
.
.
.
Before I comment on that race however, here are the races that I would have won if I had bet my system, using either the 14 dollar or the 24 dollar method. I should tell you that it was a fairly erratic night and it really fell apart later on. But, there were some gains to be made and they happened before the real breakdown.
.
.
.
.
Race 3. My selections for this race were: 7-4-3-2-9. Using my system and betting the standard 14 dollars would have made you a winner in this race. The bets would look like this:
.
Box: ( 7-4-3 ) ( six dollars )
Key: 2/7-4 ( two dollars )
7/4-2 ( two dollars )
9/7-4 ( two dollars )
7/4-9 ( two dollars )
.
The results for this race were: 2-7-4 and the two dollar triactor paid $133.00. You would of course only receive half of this amount by betting one dollar triactors.
.
Race 6. I did not win this race, but I had the top five horses that could have netted you a win if you had boxed them for sixty dollars. My top five horses in order of preference were: 3-5-7-4-1. Neither my 14 dollar or 24 dollar method would have won this race. The 24 dollar method only boxes the first four horses. But, if you had spent 60 dollars ( one dollar triactor bets ) and boxed these five horses you would have won the triactor. The winning horses were in order: 4-1-3-5. The 2 dollar triactor paid: $207.40. So, for one dollar you would have received half of that prize. Is it worth 60 dollars to you to win just over a hundred dollars? Well, that is not exactly my idea of a good time, spending sixty dollars a race, that is.
.
Race 7. This is a very interesting race which I wanted to win, but did not. I spent a lot of time on it as there was a scratch in the race. My original picks were: 2-4-3-7-6 ( see the link above for my picks yesterday ). Horse number 2 was scratched and this affected the whole system. I came up with five new numbers for my horses in order of preference. They were: 4-3-5-7-9. I thought this was an interesting race, but I did not bet the 24 dollar system. I only bet the 14 dollar variety, with the optional bet of 4/3-9-5 hoping to win the triactor two times. But, I won nothing of course. However, if you are one of the big spending kind of people then you would have won the triactor and even the superfector by boxing my top five horses. The winning combination was: 3-7-5-9. As you can see I picked all of these horses via my system. The two dollar triactor paid: $333.20.
.
Race 8. This is the heart breaker race friends and the reason I decided to do this post today. I did not even bet this race. Why? Because I was afraid of three threats to the system. They are all horses coming off qualifiers and these kinds of horses frighten me to death. You just do not know what they are going to do. Sometimes you can just leave them out because they are meaningless threats, but it seems like when you do leave them out one of them comes in and ruins your system. That is why I did not bet the race; they all looked like honest threats to the system. However, it bears repeating that I have seen this madness before. You fear something that is not real. They system is strong even in the face of all of this adversity. Here are my picks from yesterday's handicapping regarding this race. 1-3-4-5-8. The really sad thing about this race friends is that I would have won it for my standard 14 dollar bet. These would be the bets if I was betting just 14 dollars:
.
Box ( 1-3-4 )
.
Key: 5/1-3, 1/3-5, 8/1-3, and 1/3-8.
.
The winning combination was: 8-3-1 and it paid for two dollars: $698.00.
.
Can you feel my frustration friends? The kicker is that the 8 horse was the favourite on the program, but the horse was not bet as a favourite. The qualifying horses mentioned above were all running for bigger money and this fact must have influenced a lot of people and their betting behaviour. I was certainly affected as you can see. So, what do you do? Stick to your guns or make a judgement call? Live and learn eh?
.
Don't forget to read my disclaimer regarding my efforts here. This can be found in previous posts on this blog.
.
Thanks for checking in and talk to you all later.
